Attention Deficit / Deficiency is now considered as a subtitle of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder rather than an independent diagnosis. The name of this subtitle is; It is a careless species. The other two subtitles of Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder are the predominantly Hyperactive / Impulsive Species and Mixed Species.
Symptoms of Attention Disorder in Children
Children may have various symptoms of Attention Deficit / Deficiency, including: problems in following instructions given by parents, teachers or teachers; being at home and at school, losing materials, making simple mistakes, scattered work desks and lockers in the school, problems in social relations.
Diagnosis of Attention Disorder in Children
Some children may not be eligible to make this diagnosis even if they show signs of a predominantly Careless Species diagnosis because the source of this disorder is neurological, but these symptoms do not always arise from neurological origin. For example, a child with fear of being separated may not be able to focus on his or her lessons at school, worrying that something will happen to them when they are not with their parents.
Children with perfectionism may end up late at school because they are trying to make everything perfect, or they may not submit their homework because they do not find their homework perfect.
Children with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder may not be able to focus on the course and tasks given, for example, because they often need to go to the toilet to wash their hands or count things over and over again.
Similarly, children who are exposed to stress or trauma may show attention deficit.
Children with Learning Difficulties may choose not to be interested in the lesson because they have difficulty in the lessons.
Children with hearing problems may be seen as careless and indifferent because they can miss some things the teacher says.
How should a child with attention deficit be treated?
The main thing you can do is to tell your child that there are a lot of distractions and that there is nothing to be ashamed of. In order to prevent late or unfinished assignments and projects, you can take a look at the homework and project guidelines together and talk to your child about what parts your child may need the help of you or your teacher. Do not give your child a lot of directives in a row, the child with distraction may not remember all of them, instead, make eye contact by giving up to 2 directives at the same time.
